The Romantics celebrate “4 Decades In Music” with three original members and still touring strong

Detroit - 1980's music legends The Romantics, (featuring Wally Palmar, Mike Skill, Rich Cole and Brad Elvis), best known for their mega hit singles “What I Like About You” and “Talking In Your Sleep,” are releasing two new singles and touring the US in celebration of their 40th Anniversary!

The Romantics have been busy in the studio recording new music since 2015. The first two songs released that year was an original song titled “Coming Back Home” and a first time holiday recording for the band - a rock and roll rendition of the holiday favorite “Deck The Halls.” 2016 ushered in two more releases - remakes of some of the band's favorite songs, “Daydream Believer” and “We Gotta Get Out Of This Place.”

For 2017, much to the excitement of Romantics fans worldwide, the band released two new singles on June 16th - “Hush” and “I Fought The Law.” These releases will be available to fans…

New remastered & expanded 2CD edition of the classic 1987 ambient double album with 21 bonus tracks drawn from the original 1988 CD edition & a rare limited edition EP
London - Esoteric Recordings' imprint Cocteau Discs, dedicated to the work of BILL NELSON, are proud to announce the release of a deluxe 2 disc digipak limited edition of the classic collection “Chance Encounters in the Garden of Lights.”

Originally issued on Bill’s Cocteau label in 1987, the double set featured two distinct works; “The Angel at the Western Window” and “The Book of Inward Conversation.” In his note for the original release Bill Nelson declared; “The music presented on these two albums marks the consolidation of several years of musical and philosophical practice. Almost every piece was conceived during moments of intense stillness or 'magical vacuity.' Of all the music I have made, this is, perhaps, the most personal and yet the least demonstrative.”

Rock-Pop Review: The Isley Brothers - Santana-Power of Peace

Release Date: July 28, 2017 Label: Sony Legacy Website
I have been waiting for another great Santana release.  One that shook me to the core and moved my soul. Well it has arrived!  Who would have imagined Carlos, Ron and Ernie Isley and their family members would do this? Not to mention a host of other outstanding musicians, would come together to present all these classic songs on one album?

Power of Peace will arrive for all you rock and pop fans just chomping at the bit for some real music. I’m talking about music that has a fire in its belly ready to inspire you and put a smile on your face that will last all day long.

Santana is still cooking right along. His guitar doesn’t gently weep, it screams “Hear me now people!” This is the Power of Peace and how two musical brothers came together to create a powerhouse of music. So “Are You Ready” to join in this celebration of life, love, peace and music?

Typical of Santana is take all the genres and stir it all up to make simmering version…

New Age Instrumental Review: Peter Kater-Dancing On Water

Release Date: September 1, 2017
Label: Indie Website
Peter Kater has quite a large catalog of music to offer. As his recorded works grow so does the audience desiring a peaceful transition from their day. It is artists like Peter that turn the ivory keys into a thing of magic and beauty. His variations on piano invite you warmly to experience the transitions to solitude.

To usher in the Fall, we have Dancing On Water. The parallel here is that the artist allows his fingers to dance over the keys which in turn will make your spirit dance. His playing seems so effortless and flowing and as you listen, one track blends into the next. It sounds like what it may be like when shifting from one dimension to the next. This is essentially what I do when I let this music sweep me away. My mind empties and then the body relaxes, which is a total paradigm shift for me. I can only speak for myself but I am sure there are many individuals that can understand how that is accomplished, particularly those…

Concert Review: Iron Maiden and Ghost In Concert

Iron Maiden and Ghost In Concert Xfinity Center Mansfield, Massachusetts July 19, 2017 http://ironmaiden.com http://ghost-official.com
I can tick one off the bucket list now. I finally got my opportunity to see the iconic metal legends Iron Maiden in concert. I have been waiting for many years for this night and it was worth the wait. On a steamy July night, an over capacity crowd at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts reveled in their time witnessing the heavy metal giants perform.

I have never seen that many people in sync like that, the admiration and respect was evident all night long. You would expect a raucous crowd, and I know we are all stereotyped like other groups of people, but this was an orderly crowd and when we all left there were no issues. So much for the stereotypes, you can throw them right out the window. We love our metal and our bands, and as Bruce Dickinson said, prior to a short dissertation of the world before a song, we are all “Blood Brothers.” One peo…

The Romantics Guitarist/Vocalist/Songwriter Michael Skill To Release New Solo Single "67 Riot"

New song evokes time when Detroit burned during “Summer of Love”
Detroit - From the man who crafted such hit singles as “What I Like About You,” “Talking in Your Sleep,” and “One In A Million,” comes a new gritty blues-rock single about the riots that forever changed his hometown of Detroit in 1967. Michael Skill, who has played both bass and guitar for the power-pop rock 'n' roll band The Romantics, was a budding teenager in 1967 when five days of racially charged riots tore apart Detroit in July. When it was over, 43 people lay dead, 1,189 had been injured, more than 7,200 had been arrested and more than 2,000 buildings had been destroyed.

Skill lived on Detroit's East Side and says that although the violence took place several miles from his home, he nonetheless saw its effects up close. “I remember the National Guard right down the street from my house,” he says. “People watching the riots on TV were afraid that rioters would come into our neighborhood. People were fre…

LA Hard Rock Trio The Rift To Release Two New Addicting Singles!

Los Angeles – Hard rock trio The Rift will be releasing two balls to the wall singles titled “Rock Narcotic” and “Mysterious” from their eagerly awaited forthcoming second album slated for release end of July 2017! Conceptually the first single “Rock Narcotic” is a tribute to rock and roll. It's about how rock n roll feeds our imagination, inspires us, and allows us to totally immerse ourselves in it's grooves. Once you're hooked on that feeling you never want to let it go, it's the best drug in the world. The second single “Mysterious” is more abstract. It's about the give and take nature of life, struggling to have faith but wanting to, and realizing how precious and short our time is.

Says founding member Aris Anagnos, “We wrote both of these songs around the same time shortly after the release of our previous album 'Inventions,' in March of last year. They both developed so naturally and quickly we knew we had something special with them. We added both…

Progressive Rock Review: Ghostly Beard- Infinite

Release Date: July 14, 2017 Label: 2017 Patrick Talbot Website
Ghostly Beard is the name of this one-man band created by one Mr. Patrick Talbot. The beauty of his first EP Infinite is the fact it was just him in the creative and recording process.I am sure any artist brimming with creativity and flowing with an endless energy would appreciate the singularity of purpose. This creation is his and his alone, there was nobody there to bounce off ideas or disagree or play something differently. What a beautiful thing, complete musical freedom, or should I say Infinite freedom?
These five tracks are meant to set the table of what is to come. Talbot has much more to share with us hungry prog heads waiting to absorb another helping of the musical virtuosity he can deliver.
The very first track “Close Your Eyes” I found to be very Floydesque, in fact after looking at his bio I see they refer to his guitar playing as very Gilmore like. Not something that is hard to pick out if you are a fan of prog…

Author Trevor Barre Pens Second Book "Convergences, Divergences & Affinities: Further Beyond Jazz, the Second Wave of English Free Improvisation, 1973-9"

London - The sub title of the book is “The Second Wave of Free Improvisation in England, 1973-9.” It is the author’s second self-published book about English Free Improvisation, and follows his “Beyond Jazz, The Golden Age of Free Music in London, 1966-72,” an account of the genre's formative years. “Beyond Jazz” was well received and gained many favourable reviews in the press. In particular, it seemed that the book both shone a light on, and provided a much-needed account of, a music that had previously been next to ignored in the media. It was, in fact, the first such book of its kind, surprising given the lionization of most other genres from the 60s and 70s.

The author is a retired mental health nurse, having lived and practiced in London for 30 years. Wanting to use his increased spare time to do something useful, and having loved free improvisation for a similar amount of years, he identified a considerable gap in the market, and decided to translate his enthusiasm into th…

Frontman From Progressive Rock Band Mars Hollow Announces New Album, New Line-up, and New Name - Life After Mars

Progressive rock band Mars Hollow has announced that they will be recording a new album after a nearly 5-year hiatus. The announcement was made during a semi-reunion show and subsequent radio interview in June, and came on the heels of a show billed as “John Baker and Steve Mauk Perform the Music of Mars Hollow” in Chicago. The show was the first time Mars Hollow has performed live since May, 2012. The most recent studio effort from the group was the track “So Far Away,” which also had a video release and was included on the Mars Hollow Live album. The album, also available on DVD, documented the band's 'Church of Prog' spot at RosFest, 2011 and was released in Fall of 2012.

However, guitarist and lead vocalist John Baker says that the new band will update both its name and line-up to fit the spirit and music of the new incarnation, and will be called “Life After Mars.” The band's debut album release is tentatively scheduled for Summer, 2018.

Says John, “As Life After…
